Yes, dear

So I went out to dinner tonight with a large group of girlfriends and of course the topic of marital relations (trying to avoid the googling) came up during our conversation. One of the girls told me that she has a friend who has been married 10 years, has 3 kids and in the course of those 10 years has never once said no to her husband. Not once?!? So then the question was asked as to the frequency of these marital relations and she says her friend told her that they do it 3-4 a week.

That just blows my mind. Never once say no because of a headache? Cramps? Pregnancy? Not in the mood? Tired? She says that her friend feels it is her obligation as a wife to never refuse her husband. Wow, I wonder if every wife felt like that what the divorce rate in this country would be? I agree that every couple needs intimacy to keep the marriage going but I think this woman deserves a gold star or a cookie or something.

yikes. i'm all for good sex in a relationship - but to see it as an obligation? do i really want someone to have sex with me b/c they think it's their duty? eww.

(of course, i'm currently on yet another long-term round of 'pelvic rest' in this pregnancy, so maybe i just don't want dh to know such women exist...) ;)

Good lord, if I didn't say no to my husband every now and then I would be having it twice a day at least!

It's people like her that make people like us look bad. ;oD No, I agree we shouldn't hold back from them for a long period of time, but they have to be understanding too! Wow, I'm 4 weeks away from delivery and Hubby jumped on top of me right now, the baby would come flying out!

LOL! She's certainly worthy of a gold star! I say no all the time....I mean if you don't feel like it sometimes, you just don't

Don't get me wrong, all marriages need good loving, but WOW!

How about a week vacation... by herself!

You do wonder how true it is?? I don't think I would ever want my husband to feel obligated, it's a little sad.

It was true for me. 4-5 nights a week or else I would get a HUGE guilt trip from hubby about how mean I am. I filed for divorce recently and I have to say that I have never been so relaxed at bedtime. Having to perform regularly sucks. :( That said, I do think sometimes you need to do it whether you want to or not to keep the spice up (and sometimes you get in the mood once you start). I think it's sometimes too easy to say no.

I can attest to the fact that never saying no to your husband doesn't guarantee that you'll stay married.
